Paulina Diaz Montiel Honored at SDSU's Student Research Symposium

Paulina Diaz Montiel, a San Diego State University Engineering Sciences major from La Jolla was recognized with a Women in Engineering Award at SDSU's annual Student Research Symposium. The title of their project is Inverse Identification of Damage in Composite Laminates using Electrical Resistance Tomography.

Nearly 500 students presented during the two-day symposium, which recognizes the outstanding scholarly accomplishments of SDSU students and provides a public forum where students from every major and program can present their research, scholarship or creative activities.

Judges awarded participants with more than 50 cash prizes in recognition of outstanding presentations or performances. Categories included the Undergraduate Research Excellence Awards, Library Awards, as well as the Dean's and Provost's Awards.

The top 10 researchers were honored with Presidential Awards and will go on to represent SDSU at the California State University Student Research Competition in May 2017. Learn more about the SDSU Student Research Symposium.
